Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Fairly similar to US universities except that they had much less work and I only had 1 final exam in 2 of my classes. They don't put as much emphasis on studying and trying to achieve grades as actually learning the material.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Literally went above and beyond every expectation I had. I never once felt alone or stressed out because of all the resources they made available to us as students. I was able to get a job, make lifelong friends, get 12 hours of school credit and have the experience of a lifetime through this program. The program size was about 50 in Australia but i went in the fall which is smaller than in the spring but it was plenty big but I still felt that they knew me by name, etc.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

High rise apartment in Bondi Junction that was very convenient to the beach and school and the city. Lived with 5 other American roommates and we got along great, 2 to a room and 2 bathrooms per unit. The apartment complex had a workout facility and pool. It was great.

* Food:

Food was expensive, but very good. I usually cooked. Bavarian Bier Cafe is awesome!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Everything was so fun and well prepared. Awesome welcome week and farewell dinner and the knew we would be busy with all our own things so they allowed us to meet during the middle months if we wanted.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Very low crime rate in Australia but I felt that I could have called any of my resident directors at any time during my time over there and they would have done anything for me.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
