Perth, Australia Internship Past Review

By (Ohio Northern University) - abroad from 05/15/2017 to 07/30/2017 with

The Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Australia Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The healthcare system in Australia is much different, and I was able to get hands on experience, which I wouldn't have been able to do in the US. I think this makes the experience worthwhile, since it gives me a step up from other applicants to physical therapy school.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

An included meal plan would have been appreciated, because it was hard having to buy food all the time and stick to a budget.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I loved the experience, but it was so expensive that it almost made it not worth it. I wish I had looked around at different countries to see if the cost of the program could have been less.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Living in Perth was really expensive, especially since the internship was unpaid.
