Improved Spanish, lifelong friends, cliche but a new perspective on the world and what it means to be from the United States, the kind of privilege that comes from that. - Syracuse University View Entire Review
That I say I would choose this program all over again is a big deal, because it wasn't my first choice. Up until November, I was going to Spain! However, due to problems with the Spain program, I had to be moved to the one in Chile...and I am SO glad that I did! This experience was definitely worthwhile - cheesy as it sounds, I ... - Fordham University View Entire Review

Absolutely worthwhile. In fact, it wasn't until our last week in the program that we finally were understanding the city, culture, language and many of us wanted to continue studying abroad! It really does fly. I came back to my campus with an appreciation of my University and took full advantage of everything that was offered. ... - Syracuse University View Entire Review

Past Review Chilena Siempre
I gained an entirely differnt worldview and learned incredible things both about Chile, South America in general, as well as my own country´s role in the affairs of the region. Yes, I gained a much-needed perspective of the role played by the US in Latin America, and the important and tragic history of a nation under dictatorship that is still recovering. Made great friends on the program, a few close contacts in Chile, and all in all had a wonderful time. - Barnard College View Entire Review

About

With Latin America as your study destination, you will visit countries that represent much more than the origins of Western culture; they embody the diverse forms that this culture can adopt when it comes in contact with indigenous elements, many of which are still present today. Chile - a country that has recently attained one of the highest levels of economic and human development in Latin America - will be your base for exploration during this intellectual and academic journey. The SU Santiago program offers two options for interested students: the first, which is required for students with fewer than two years of Spanish language study, includes a four-week language intensive in Cuenca, Ecuador before arriving in Santiago. The second option is for students who are already fluent in Spanish to arrive directly at the SU Center in Santiago.Note: At least three semesters of college-level Spanish are required for application to the program.
