About

James Cook University (JCU) combines excellence in teaching and research in a unique tropical setting. JCU is one of the premier universities in Queensland, and is Australia's leading tropical university. With study abroad offerings at two campuses in North Queensland, students have the option of choosing from more than 300 study areas across four faculties. Study areas include anthropology, archaeology, education, exercise science, business, marine biology, zoology, nursing, visual arts, tropical ecology, and much more. Many of the subjects offered to study abroad students include a field trip component, allowing you to experience hands on what you are studying.  Please note that Semester 1 at JCU is typically from February-June and Semester 2 is from July-November.

Described as the rainforest campus, JCU Cairns nestles below rainforest-covered mountains in the suburb of Smithfield, approximately 9 miles north of the city centre and near the northern beaches of Cairns.

JCU Townsville is the larger of the two campuses. The campus is located in a 953 acre setting of natural bush and parkland, a short drive from the city centre and local beach. For additional information about this university, please visit the JCU website.
