I learned about biodiversity. I learned about a tiny country I had never heard of prior. I learned that I have some of the best friends in the world, and that includes the people I just met on the trip. I think I'm more open minded these days, and I'm better at appreciating the biology that happens around me every day. - SUNY - College at Geneseo View Entire Review
it was pretty pricey for a 9 day trip but it was mostly worth it in the long run - SUNY - College at Geneseo View Entire Review
It was great, and I might seek future employment or field experience in Belize with the people I met there. - SUNY - College at Geneseo View Entire Review

About

This course will look at the biodiversity of a specific region (Belize) and look at both the physical and biotic factors that affect this diversity.  We will examine a variety of organisms, focusing on those that are most easily observable (common vertebrates, insects, and plants).  Students will learn about specific organisms and understand how their structure, physiology, and behavior affect their distribution and diversity within the region.  We will take advantage of different ecosystems found in this region, namely wet, tropical forest and various marine environments (including mangrove swamps and coral reef systems).
