SUNY Binghamton: New Delhi - Technology, Economy, and Society in India

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, I wish the program would of been longer. It felt too short of a time. I learned alot about the different cultures and religions in India. I also learned about the different business practices. And I was able to visit alot of tourist attractions.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I learned alot about the different industries in New Delhi as well as the difference in cultures between India and the US.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I think it was a very successful program. I learned alot about India and its business practices. I also learned alot about India's culture. I think it was hard to manage a class our size with only 2 faculty members, so I would recommend more faculty or less students next time.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We stayed in a hotel. I had no problems with housing. It provide us with the basic amenities; showers and beds. Breakfast was great and the staff was very friendly. There were only problems with the internet.

I think we could of been located in a location more central to the train station and where there were more local attractions.

* Food:

I think there should be more of a balance between Indian and American meals. At the beginning of the program all we were eating were Indian meals but at the end there were alot of American type foods being eaten because other students were complaining about the lack of meats.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I think all the events were pretty successful. The Taj Mahal is a very memorable experience. I think that one day at the University would of been enough.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe traveling in India.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about 150 on food and souvenirs outside of the tuition.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Alot of food is provided throughout the program, so only bring what you think you will spend on souvenirs.

Language
