Yes, it was definitely worthwhile. I learned an incredible amount about not just public health issues in the Dominican Republic, but about the local culture as well.

The exchange rate in the Dominican Republic was very much in our favor. Also, the stipend to cover food was more than enough for some souvenirs here and there.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I suggest always trying out the local food, meaning no American restaurants or franchises. The local food is always better, fresher, and cheaper. It will also integrate you into the culture.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew how hot it would be there. Since it was winter in the U.S., alot of my clothes were not that appropriate.
