Study Abroad Programs in Australia

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
i learned to be more open, to talk with anyone and everyone, to make new friends and learn more about culture, to really listen and see things in a different way, i learned how to take amazing photos and can be proud to put them in my portfolio. I would never forget my experience and am so happy I went.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Teachers were fantastic, computer lab was okay, could have used more mac computers, lectures were a bit long and irrelevant but great educational experience overall!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Weren't a lot of staff on campus because it was summer but they always let us in and helped us with whatever we needed

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

it was cozy! i loved staying in a place with other people and rooming with people i didn't know taking the same program, i liked cooking my own meals, washing machine and dryer wasn't free tho.

* Food:

really got a taste of Australia, it was neat to experience all the different foods

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

our aboriginal guide was great, learned so much about australian culture and the stories of the land, it was fabulous.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

on the field trip two of us had to use the first aid kit, myself included and it was perfect that whatever we needed was always right there and the instructors knew how to use it

* Safety:

completely safe, felt protected the entire time

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I was given a certain amount to spend on food and souvenirs and such ($400 for the month) i made it through with just enough, could have used maybe $100 more

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $70-90
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? don't eat out all the time! grocery shop and make your lunches and dinners, also alcohol is expensive so don't go out drinking every night

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
