Study Abroad Programs in Argentina

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, while there were a lot of little things I did not like about the trip I would do it again in a heart beat because it was such a unique experience.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was a lot of work for a short time

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The hostel treated adults like children, there were rarely any activities planned, most of the free time that was given led to boredom.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing situation was abysmal. The rooms were cramped, they were overly secure with allowing no alcohol in the hostel, we were not allowed to be in each others rooms passed 10PM or be in the small hostel common rooms passed 10PM. In a country where it is the norm to be out late into the night and start to have dinner at 10PM it's odd that the only alternative to having a child's bedtime was roaming the streets of a major international city.

* Food:

The food was sub standard

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We went to the zoo, the beach, Uruguay, and a tango show

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

There were bars on the windows, an electronically opened door, and a nightly watchman.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? about 150 U.S. dollars
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? food, souvenirs, excursions.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
