Study Abroad in Egypt at the American University in Cairo

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes!! I have met so many different people and learned so much. The experience here at the AUC is very unique and I'm very glad to be part of it. Most instructors are really friendly and eager to help. The students, and Egyptians in general, are extremely welcoming.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I am not living on campus, so I cannot really judge that, but the IPSO is very helpful in that regard anyway.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The campus is extremely safe and the general area nearby is safe as well, but I wouldn't say that this extends to the rest of Cairo or the country.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It must be noted that I live with my family and so I don't have to pay for a lot of stuff that I would need to pay for if I were living alone.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I did not spend much but that's mostly because I eat at home.
