Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was light compared to MICA, but it was a good amount to be able to experience Florence and Italy. The restoration program was good because you actually got to work directly with the art works and artifacts

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Ken Tisa was an amazing person to send over, he was very understanding and encouraged and challenged you to create art in this unfamiliar environment. The only disadvantage was that we did not get to experience Italy and Florentine things as a class.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The location of the apartment was very covenant, it was around the corner of the train station and only a few blocks away from SACI. I do not understand how they grouped the roommates, because our personalities were not all the same and cleanliness was a problem too. I lived with 3 others, all of them having outgoing and night life behaviors, and 2 of which hardly ever cleaned.

* Food:

The food was delicious, all the ingredients were fresh and tasted fresh. Which was unlike the processed foods in America. It was hard trying to find whole grain foods and flaxseed in Italy though, it was mush easier finding it in Germany/Austria.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I acted as a sponge, I absorbed and soaked everything that was surrounding me. I was inspired by every step I took and discovered new things about the cities and about me.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

health was not so much of an issue in the winter, the H1N1 virus was ending. However the medicine is different in Europe than the US, but I brought my medicine box of various vitamins, pain, and other symptoms just incase I needed it.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
