Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA): Doing Business in the Former Eastern Block Maymester Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes I believe it was worthwhile. I enjoyed touring international businesses. I only wish we could have met more business executives at the companies we toured.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I really enjoyed the trip overall, but I would have like to meet with more business professionals on our tours.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration in Prague was a little disorganized. I also believe that too many things were scheduled during the day. We seemed to be rushed through most of our tours.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Our housing in Budapest was awesome, but our housing in Prague could have been a little better.

* Food:

I loved our first dinner in Budapest.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I probably spent about $250 each week for a total of $500.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

  • I would maybe choose a different travel company to work with.
  • Don't schedule so many things in one day.
