St. Cloud State University: Italy - HIED 664 – Critical Issues Seminar & HIED790 – Critical Issues in Italian Higher Ed

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I provide a different perspective during class discussions, as americans we can't see past our own backyards, not everything revolves around us. It was like being in another world or this one but at a different time. I don't really think there is a future for me in Italy bt I'm going to keep looking around maybe some other coutry there is.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The work load was manageable but challenging. Lots of discuussion and journeling

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Trouble with internet access. The accessability to services was not what we were use to. I didn't really have expectations so that way I wouldn't be disappointed

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Great proximity to class , dinning, shopping and night life. I felt safe and it was super cute. We had to purchase toilet paper.

* Food:

I was always down to eat what ever because I'm not picky. The translator was vegitarian and would help the other vegitarians and not anyone else. This was very frustrating for some of my classmates.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I really enjoyed meeting other college students. I'd rather hang out with locals then Americans. There was festival with different stages for the university. I really enjoyed that.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I always felt safe. Just use common sense like how would you act in a large American city like San Fran or New York? One student did get hurt and it was on a Sunday so it was hard to find help. A few of us got colds and that was hard because there wasn't any time to rest.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
