Great SIT Program Experience in Seville July 08, 2026
By A student (Social and Corporate Responsibility, Claremont McKenna College) - abroad from 05/28/2026 to 07/10/2026 with
SIT Study Abroad: Spain - Social and Corporate Responsibility Global Internship (Summer)
I learned how to adapt to a new experience abroad in a brand new culture and environment while still staying true to myself and feeling like I have a genuine safety net still. It was absolutely worthwhile, I learned so much about myself and who I want to become as a person, friend, and in my career. Very grateful.

Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The Program includes a Seminar in addition to the Internship experience. Although the Internship is the main focus, the seminar was so informative and genuinely changed some of my ingrained beliefs. The class was taught so wonderfully and went hand in hand with the internship experiences. Both Internship Coordinator and my Internship Supervisor were incredible with resources, giving advice, guidance, and ensuring safety. I loved the entire program and experience I had. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The Program Staff was amazing. My main coordinator was Laura, and she was a wonderful resource. She gave me all the information and guidance I needed prior to my experiences, even with non-program components like the trips I took outside of the program. She was so accessible with any and all needs I had, and I always felt like someone had my back if there were ever to be a bad situation. The Orientation was so in depth that I never encountered any of these issues. |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Great housing, meals provided, super kind staff at the residence, I loved the pool, weekly cleaning, friendly students, movie room, proximity to the city center and internship site/SIT site, etc. |
| * Food: |
Loved most of the food, but Spanish food is very different yet similar to American food. The food here has a lot of fish and I now like fish a little less. |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I felt very integrated with the culture. Despite the program being shorter than a typical summer or semester program, I felt like I was able to be more integrated with locals, able to find spots that I even began to be recognized by locals. I learned a lot about the culture within the frst week and was guided well by the program directors, who live in Seville and were able to give really good recommendations. |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Easily Accesible |
| * Safety: |
Felt very safe and did not personally encounter any safety concerns, the program directors helped me with almost all transport and travel. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
In my personal experience, I did need to use my own money quite often to eat outside of the residence cafeteria after a certain amount of time there, or if I missed meals, but it is not absolutely essential. |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $150 |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Save money for food when you just need an outside meal or coffee, smoothie, etc. and for trying the Spanish cuisine |
Language
| * Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
|
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
The program directors encouraged us to use whatever ability we felt comfortable using the language, helped guide us and translate, and our program group genuinely had people of all Spanish levels and everyone succeeded just the same. |
| How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Beginner |
| How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Intermediate |
| What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | Some High School Spanish |
| How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
| Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | Just talk, don't worry about how you sound or what you say exactly, just do it and try. |
