A Challenging but Incredibly Rewarding Semester in Cusco July 12, 2026
By Maria H (International Affairs, George Washington University) - abroad from 08/20/2025 to 12/08/2025 with
SIT Study Abroad: Peru - Indigenous Peoples and Globalization
It was absolutely worthwhile. I greatly improved my Spanish, learned how to conduct independent field research, and gained a much deeper understanding of Peru and Indigenous communities through direct experience rather than classroom learning alone. I also became more adaptable and formed lasting relationships with my host families, members of my cohort, and people I met through my research.
