What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to be more independent and plan ahead, I learned the basics of Italian, I forced my self to cook, and most importantly I learned how to budget properly. The experience was totally 100% worthwhile.

It was my first time abroad alone and I had to do a lot of things by trail and error. it took time to adjust and get to know the new culture. If I could go back I could make the transition more easily and be able to get around without much of a problem.

Very easily, I made a budget and stuck to it. 5

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan ahead and bring extra. Contact your bank and let them know you'll be abroad in case you need to take out more money. Ask the locals or the university where locals eat to avoid overspending on food.
