SAI Study Abroad: Milan - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) Fashion & Design

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about the Italian culture and way of life. I loved every second of it. I now know so much about the international side of fashion!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Every teacher at NABA has either worked in the fashion industry, or currently works in it. They always try to do learning outside of the classroom (field trips, showroom visits).

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Really good location, about a 5 min walk to NABA. Only problem is there was no common area to hang out!

* Food:

The food in Italy is AMAZING! Even going to the grocery store and buying fresh produce and meat is so much better.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Milan is a very safe city. My life was never in danger

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

SAI is amazing in everything they do. If I ever had concerns or doubts, they were always there to help me.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Depends on how many weekend trips you take, but food in Milan can be expensive. Make food with friends in your apartment, thats how I saved money!

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan weekend trips early! The later you book them, the more expensive they become.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
