PRESHCO: Study Abroad in Córdoba, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that I can speak Spanish well enough to navigate in another country. I learned that confidence is key and you have to struggle to become better when speaking a new language. I learned that there truly are major differences in different cultures, but that they are essential to each culture and help make them what they are.

I would choose a Latin America country. I think the exposure to Spanish culture in Spain was nice, but having family from Latin America I think I would have enjoyed spending time in Latin America more than I did in Spain.

  • Host family
  • Friends in my program
  • Weather
* What could be improved?
  • Classes/selection of classes
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew that the teachers would wait until the last 3 weeks to give you a ton of work. I wish I knew I would not be able to find certain snacks and foods in Spain that we have in the US. I wish I knew there would be such a strong accent, at times, that it would be hard to understand.
