Honestly words cannot describe how much I learned from this experience. Of course I gained a much more proficient language ability. I also gained life long cross-cultural friendships. I had the opportunity to learn about a different cosmo-vision and set of beliefs and ways of knowing. Selah B - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I gained perspective. Living and taking classes with local community members opened my eyes to a lived reality that I had previously known next to nothing about. The program broke down my western perceptions of "community development" and I made some new friends that have taught me so much. I also gained a family in Pachaysana -... The most valuable things I gained from my time with Rehearsing Change were the relationships & a new way of understanding the world. I met people who are still some of the most important and influential people in my life, and through dialogue with them and the world around me I learned so much. Rehearsing Change was absolutely t... Grace - American University View Entire Review
I learned skills for challenging cultural exchange. I learned community-led project development by practicing it. Emily P - Juniata College View Entire Review
Rehearsing Change helped me see my education in a new light with a new critical lens. I have never participated in such meaningful classes nor done such meaningful homework. I watched myself and my counterparts grow with every project and every presentation. I shared very personal stories of successes, failures, vulnerabilities,... I learned to fully involve myself with my ecology, that nothing is separate from myself. I walked into much more of myself, my creative work, my voice, and my identity. I learned so much about humanity, friendship, love, armor, resistance, and survival. It was absolutely worthwhile. Brontë V - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Pachaysana is actually supporting local participant communities in changing their systems, from small greenhouses and stages to the stories that circulate in our societies. It was a privilege to take part in that dreaming together. Gabe - Williams College View Entire Review
I was looking for a challenging, different abroad experience, and Rehearsing Change pushed me to reach beyond my potential, forge international friendships, and develop new perspectives. I never could have imagined how rewarding this program would be, and it was truly the most impactful semester of my entire educational career. Liza Sweitzer - American University View Entire Review

Rehearsing Change far surpassed any goals I had for the semester. I was looking for a program that would connect me to someplace new — a program that was intrinsically linked to the place it occurred, rather than just-so-happening to occur somewhere. I really don’t know enough about other study abroad programs to fairly compare... Ruby Goldberg - Brown University View Entire Review

Choosing this program was probably one of the most valuable things I've ever done. This semester showed me that fair exchange is actually accomplishable. I learned so much about human ability, including my own, and the meaningfulness (and closeness of meaning) of story, memory, and identity. It made me remember how incredibly be... About
A semester-long, community-based study abroad program in Ecuador (with community partners located in Quito, the rural Andes mountains and the Amazon Rainforest). Like no other program in the world, we offer a model focused on Decolonial Education and Fair Trade Study Abroad. This means that our programs offer simultaneous, equitable education for local community counterparts. Students come to Ecuador and form a single cohort with local community members, with whom they work and study on a daily basis. Facilitated by leading scholars, teaching artists, and community educators, we combine challenging academics, Arts for Conflict Transformation methodology, participatory action research and engaged learning / scholarship.
