New York University: Paris - NYU Summer in Paris

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I am so glad to have gone back to Paris and lived in a residential area. I also feel that navigating the city has helped me grow in confidence of my independence.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Wonderful teachers - I read one of the books of my 13-person class's professor, and he is extremely talented, as are all the teachers, as well as very nice.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

One must travel across Paris to get to the locations - there was rarely time to eat

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Never had a curtain for the month I was in the apartment

* Food:

Food in Paris is wonderful! However, little food was provided (and rarely), and there was barely enough time to eat

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Wanted more communal activities and museum/site tours

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

One must figure out the health system by oneself, and thus locate a doctor and go alone

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? One should be serious about writing fiction or poetry... It feels like a LOT of work. But, it's wonderful!
