New York University: Paris - NYU Summer in Paris

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My french became better, and I loved living in the city. No matter what the program was, it would have been fantastic just to be there.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

One class, Contemporary French Theater, was excellent, particularly the trip to the Avignon Theater Festival. The other, Paris through its monuments and museums, was very uninteresting in the classroom, though the museum-going experience was enjoyable.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

All of the staff at NYU Paris were helpful and friendly.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The Internet was horrible in the building, but otherwise the dorms were comfortable.

* Food:

I enjoyed the food in Paris immensely, though the budget allotment was not really enough for all the meals.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Avignon Theater Festival, and all the other theater and dance excursions were great.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I didn't experience any safety issues, but there also wasn't much done to address safety in the program.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Varied depending on how many nice meals we went out for, how much shopping, etc....
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? N/A

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
