Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Japanese classes are alright, although quite boring and lack the variety of teaching techniques, you will be stuck with the EXACTLY the same homework and classes for the rest of the period. Most of the English classes are a joke, teachers cant even speak coherent English, discipline is non existant and syllabus too. Most of the students used those classes as study periods. University facilities are..okayish. Library is poorly equipped, gym is an absolutely joke (but free) and sports clubs are meh. Btw, sport and cultural are poorly managed as well.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in Proxy Friends Nisshin. Pros- AC. Cons- I dont even know where to start. Very old and dirty (yes even though its Japan) and situated literally a metre from a 4 lane highway, so it will take you a couple of weeks to get used to a non top noise. I believe it was built in 1990 and, trust me, wasn't refurbished ever since. No reception although RAs are very kind.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Ehm. If you want to be fully immersed into Japanese culture and practice your Japanese this is definitely not the place. Insane amount of International students who live in all 3 available accommodations will make you forget Japanese easily, so getting to know Japanese students is difficult in the beginning. If you manage to get to know some, THEY WILL PRACTICE SPEAKING ENGLISH WITH YOU ALL THE TIME. Nagoya is alright but literally all you can do there is drinking, shopping and clubbing, other entertainment is very poor. If you are not into these things GG living there. Oh yeah, and it will take you at least an hour to get to Nagoya city centre from NUFS since you will be living in a town of Nisshin. Why not Nisshin University of Foreign Studies?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

lol

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Beginner
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Intermediate
How many hours per day did you use the language?
