Besides my improvements in Spanish and my increased worldly knowledge, I learned a great deal about myself, making the experience extremely worthwhile.

This program provided me with an incredible opportunity to live completely immersed in a Spanish speaking country while feeling entirely supported.

Ensayo Chileno e Hispanoamericano

Instruction Language: Spanish
Comments: The class was challenging, but overall very informative. It was literature based, but the readings provided a lot of insight into Chilean culture and history. The professor was engaging and enjoyed having everyone participate in class discussions. In terms of evaluations, we had individual presentations and a handful of written tests.

Mujer y Sociedad en Chile

Instructor: Josefina Cabrera and Leticia Contreras
Instruction Language: Spanish
Comments: This class was not very challenging, though I did learn a lot regarding the role of women in Chilean history and literature. Classes were mostly lectures in which the professor would talk most of the time. For assessments, we had two group presentations, a final paper, and a midterm written test.

Iniciación a la Traducción de Textos Literarios

Comments: This class was challenging, as it forced me to make connections between Spanish and English, but from the Spanish perspective. The class was very hands-on; it was centered around our own applications of translations. In addition to graded translations, we also had two tests.
