Once in a Lifetime Past Review

Messiah University: International Business Institute, Worldwide Summer Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying abroad was one of the most influential experiences I've had in my life so far. It was incredible to see so many different cultures and business styles in such a short period of time. If you're looking for an easy study abroad with blow off classes and lots of free time, this isn't a program for you. But if you're looking to be challenged academically, personally, and spiritually- go on IBI.

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

This is not necessarily an integration program. You are moving around a lot, and you don't really get to "know" specific areas super well. It is a professional/educational program more than a cultural immersion program.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

N/A

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

There are some things that I personally would do differently, but I would go on IBI again in a heartbeat.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? You will have plenty to cover your basic expenses, but you'll need to think through what you'll want to spend on your free days/on gifts for yourself and family/friends.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Academic or Linguist
You went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you!
