What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes. I grew and changed in so many ways for the better. I also struggled while abroad, which in turn made me even more independent and stronger. A beautiful experience in a lovely country.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

First time I was ever graded on a bell curve- hated it! Much more difficult than american universities.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

My only regret was taking too few clothes. My adviser told me to pack one suitcase that was HALF full. She said I would end up shopping abroad anyway. Well I didn't- it was VERY expensive, so I never had enough clothes :/

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Staying in University provided flats meant roughing it! We had very little provided for us, ended up having to buy a lot of cutlery, pots, pans, and general kitchen items.

* Food:

NZ has FANTASTIC food!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I LOVED our pre-departure trip to Fiji. Absolutely fantastic, one of the most memorable experiences of my life. And local activities such as canyoning, kayaking and rock climbing were amazing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt VERY safe on my campus, mainly because it was secluded from the main city of Palmerston North.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
