About

Living and Learning International (L&LI) provides an excellent summer internship abroad where students will engage the challenges of a developing nation and learn to respond with an appropriate Christian Worldview. Our Internship Coordinator will work with you to find a placement at an internship site relevant to your field of study. Quito is a city of 2.5 million people with endless site placements options. While we don't guarantee any specific placement, the organization or company you end up working with will be applicable to both your interests and major. During your six-week summer internship, you'll have a thorough orientation with our staff to get acclimated to Ecuador. There is a weekly chapel service with the other students in your cohort. During the middle of the summer block, the entire cohort will travel down to the Amazon Jungle to engage in a week-long missions trip working with a Christian school. You'll live in a large apartment with the rest of the summer interns and a Resident Coordinator. Highlights: Christian community, weekly one on one with staff, internship excursions to the amazon. Our program requires students to abstain from alcohol during the semester. This requirement is not based on a moral stance for or against alcohol but is in place to show respect for the primarily Catholic culture and to create an environment that focuses on personal wellbeing & development. When most North Americans think of Ecuador there are not many images that come to mind. We aim to change that. Ecuador is a small country about the same size as the state of Colorado. But within the borders of a relatively small place exists four distinct regions. The Amazon Jungle to the east, the Andes Mountains where the capital city of Quito sits, the beaches of the Pacific Ocean, and the Galapagos Islands 600 miles off the coast. Most of our summer is spent in the urban city of Quito but we also travel down to the Amazon Jungle for a week.
