The classes were great! The professors were really helpful and amazing.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I stayed in Anam Global House and I loved it!

* Food:

The food was great! There are so many options to choose from. They have a cafeteria as well as many really good restaurants.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt very integrated with the local culture. Korea University also helped make the integration easier.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe in South Korea. I recommend if you go somewhere always take another person with you. It is better than going alone and you also have someone for company. However, you do not have to take someone with you if you like to travel alone.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I loved this program so much! I love and miss it so much that I plan on going back for a semester in the near future!

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Everything was cheaper than things are in the U.S so it was easy for me to live off my budget.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? A tip I have is to wait until a week or two when you are getting ready to return home to buy merchandise and gifts. You save a lot more money that way and can budget how much you spend on items.

How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

I took Beginner Korean Language and my professor would encourage us to use what we knew when going out so we could get comfortable speaking to natives.

How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? The books we used for my class was Fun! Fun! Korean. I knew some basic words from watching sweetandtastyTV with Mina Oh. Also, Go Billy Korean has great videos for learning Korean.

The Academic or Linguist
You went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you!
