Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

HOLISTIC AND UNFORGETTABLE! Highly recommending Korea Uni's ISC to anyone going to Korea for summer school. There are so many complimentary fun filled activities organised by the school that gave us the opportunities to understand the Korean culture better. The best part has got to be the flash mob KPOP dance that we did, as well as the chance to cook a Korean meal. I have been missing Korea and KU since the day I left Seoul. Looking forward to the day I will visit the country and the school again!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very organised and efficient. Performance was beyond my expectations and I only had positive experiences with KU administrative team. The student volunteers were also very friendly and helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I did not stay in the dorm, but stay in a goshiwon. But none the less, Korea University's neighbourhood is amazing with 2 stretch of roads lined up with food and shopping. There are so many good cafes and dining places there, you'll be spoilt for choice!

* Food:

The cafeteria food is amazing! Especially this Korean place near the school bookstore! They have awesome side dishes and they are all value for money! Very student-price friendly.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Koreans were all generally nice and they taught us some of the local words and social activities. They treated us like friends and help us integrate and adapt quickly to our home for 2 months.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

South Korea is a safe country! Many a times I am out on the streets until midnight. As a girl, I would have feared for my safety in many other countries, but not in S.K. There are police stations in every neighbourhood, and there are proper street lights on the main streets. Everyone follows the law there properly, making it a safe country to visit and to study in!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

They have the best program and strikes a good balance between fun and work! It's never a boring day for me with K.U.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Its only because there are so many things to buy in South Korea. I spend about $40SGD on average everyday

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $300
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Cook your own meals, stay in goshiwons, go to home plus to buy cheaper groceries!

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

We used it every lesson and it was useful when I am getting around Korea!

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Beginner
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? English
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? listen more, speak more, read more!
