I gained new insight. I was semi-ethnocentric when I arrived, but after while I began to adopt those same ways of being. I learned that every situation you walk into came sometimes be uncomfortable, but it is ultimately up to you to make the best of it. LENAYA L - Berea College View Entire Review
I'm definitely going to study abroad again. The other students on my trip is what made China one of the most wonderful experiences. We explored our host, city, had adventures and became really close. The program itself was mediocre but my teachers were great. I would highly recommend going to China, just not with KIIS. I learned that different cultures do things in various ways. The way that we do something doesn't mean it is the right way. It was very worthwhile for me. Amanda L - Berea College View Entire Review
It changed my life. Despite the struggles in receiving my grant in time, I have lessons that only time in my lovely Chile could have given me. voisinage - Berea College View Entire Review
I gained new friendships, began to acquire a new language, and experienced many cultural elements different than those I'd been familiar with. About
The KIIS China program is primarily based in Xi'an, but also includes multiple-night travels to Beijing, Shanghai and Luoyang.
Xi'an- the capital for 13 dynasties- enjoys 3,100 years of history and fame. Within the old city wall, historical relics reside amidst modern buildings. Just outside Xi'an, resides the Terracotta Warriors and imperial tombs of the Tang Dynasty. Numerous long and short excursions highlight the city's famed museums, pagodas, Muslim Quarter, food street, etc.
During our three days in Beijing, we visit the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, as well as The Summer Palace and The Temple of Heaven. The city of Luoyang is renowned as the birthplace of the Chinese martial arts culture (Shaolin Temple), the first Buddhist temple in China (White Horse Temple), and Longmen Grottoes, the world-famous gallery of Buddhist arts.
Before our departure from China, we spend the last two days in Shanghai to dazzle our eyes with its glamourous modern splendor on the Bund, the financial district, while also touring the traditional Yuyuan Garden, and the premier shopping street-3.4-mile-long Nanjing Road.
