KIIS: Paris - Experience Paris (Summer)

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes. I learned more about myself when I was there.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I thought that I had an amazing experience studying abroad.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Cost was good. I had a great time in my classes. The only problem was that it was too short for my taste.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was great. The only problem I had was the hostel's rules about not letting you have food in the rooms. If you wanted to eat out, you had to eat it there. You also couldn't bring food home with you.

* Food:

Most of the food was good. I just disliked the rules they had in place--only food from the FIAP (the hostel) could be purchased and consumed, and only in the designated eating areas. If you get tired of eating the FIAP food, I recommend going to the nearby panini shop.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I really liked the things that were going on in Paris during the time I lived here, such as the Fete de La Musique--a music festival that happens on June 21st of every year all over the city.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

No problems. I never used the health care facilities, but I knew people who did. They had all of their medical issues paid for on the spot.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I could practice with fellow students, the maids, and the panini shop workers down the street.
