I gained a lot of confidence as a conversational speaker. It was definitely worthwhile.

This is not to say that it was culturally difficult, but there hardly any KCP program initiatives to introduce students to the native population.

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

This is probably related to Tokyo being a big city and a tourist attraction, but food prices were very high with few bulk options.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 250-350$
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you can travel with a friend and share food supplies and cooking utensils it greatly reduces cost.
