ISA Study Abroad in Florence, Italy

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes. I expected more out of it culturally. But it was enriching none the less!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were really easy, and I didn't learn very much.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

my only complaint was that there was little to no integration with actual culture.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

i wish that they would have placed people with the same level (or at least interest) of italian in the same apartments. My roommates didn't even care to learn, so it was hard for me to practice.

* Food:

We had to cook. it was a great learning experience and lots of fun!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

All the school-led field trips were so amazing and great to learn and have fun with friends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

safety was not a problem. they informed us well on dangers.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

most people spoke english. I was already basically fluent in Italian when I went over. It really helped me to practice and feel more comfortable with the Italian (which I was starting to unfortunately forget at the time).

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
