IFSA: Dublin - University College Dublin

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Absolutely. I have grown up, seen the world, and met incredible people.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Classes were only once a week, the work load wasn't too difficult. Only a couple classes were the same difficulty level as back home.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was very helpful. They did all that they could to make our adjustment smooth

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

They helped close the gap between our cultures. I learned from my 3 roommates about their lifestyle and the way they speak. I was very appreciative of this

* Food:

There was a connivence store right underneath our dorms. This is where i got my food from

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Dublin has great entertainment. Sitting in a pub talking with locals was always fun. St Patricks Day in Dublin was a very different experience as well. Something everyone should see

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Dublin is very safe. Just don't walk around alone. It is a new city and even if you think you know where you are, you can get lost easily

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? You might not want to pay to get new sheets or things along those lines, but try to use your money to get something you actually like. Make your living space comfortable and feel like home

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
