I became fluent in Spanish which was my reason for studying abroad in South America. Also, I learned how to navigate a city, and traveling alone and just felt so incredibly capable. I became a lot more confident in myself and my abilities to problem solve and meet new people. - Emory University View Entire Review
Because of my semester in Buenos Aires, I am even more aware of the importance of the human connection, understanding the different ways that people engage with others across societies, the importance of remaining curious, and the urgency of truly listening to others, even if their opinions or practices are different than my own... - Amherst College View Entire Review
I gained friends, increased my Spanish fluency, conducted research and completed an internship that has been useful for future internships and jobs, and learned more about policy/politics in Latin America that has influenced by academic career at my home university. - Duke University View Entire Review

I learned I could live independently and that there really is a world out there with big possibilities for me. - Illinois College View Entire Review
Not only did I improve my Spanish skills and learn about Argentinian culture during my time abroad, but I gained so much independence and learned how to navigate through unfamiliar situations. Being able to follow along and earn good grades in college class with Argentinians was such a booster for my language skills. I feel so ... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned a lot about independence as well as adapting to a more relaxing and easy going way of living. My Spanish also improved immensely! - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned a lot about adaptability and I learned a lot about myself. I learned that different countries have different ways of life and that no single one is correct. I learned that you have to get out of your comfort zone in order to meet interesting people and also in order to discover things about yourself. - Trinity University View Entire Review
I improved my spanish skills, and fell in love with Argentina. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
To live life as is with all minor details, instead of focusing on the pig picture. Was it worthwhile...not even a question! - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I improved my language skills, learned about life in another country and met many friends - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned how to be independent-- something that you'd imagine you already know but most definitely do not until going abroad. You learn how to be by yourself and enjoy that time, how to put yourself out there to meet new people, and how to dive into a culture in a way that goes past textbooks and pictures. - Wheaton College, MA View Entire Review
I improved my Spanish (particularly my speaking skills) and confidence navigating a foreign city alone. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I chose a program in a Spanish-speaking country for the language immersion, but the reason I specifically chose Argentina was the literary scene in Buenos Aires. A well-travelled aunt promised that I would love the urban atmosphere and the unbelievable literary culture of the city (there's an independent bookstore almost every t... - Macalester College View Entire Review

I felt at home in BsAs because I was welcomed into the Armenian community, but I had friends who found communities playing sports, or videogames, or dancing, so it was clear that going out and involving yourself in cultural spaces is worthwhile, even if it might be scary at first. - Bard College View Entire Review

It was definitely worthwhile. I think I'll still be figuring out what exactly I learned from the experience long after my return date because it's given me a new, different perspective on my experiences before, during, and after the program. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review

I became much more independent and self-reliable. I know that I will be able to pull through for myself, and that I will alway be there for myself. I am much more autonomous and emotionally independent, as I only had myself to cry to for 5 months (family and friends were very supportive, but they couldn't be there with me).
