IES Abroad: Rabat - Study in Rabat

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I have always been interested in the Middle East and North Africa but you can't truly understand a culture till you leave there with the people and experience everyday life.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I had great teachers and my classes were much easier than my home university but they were not a joke.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

very very helpful staff. I did not like the intern, but she was only working part time so we didn't interact with her too much

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

GREAT FOOD

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

we had cooking lessons, dance lessons, calligraphy lessons, ect.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Morocco isn't the safest of countries, especially as a woman, but my program was super helpful

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I ate at home almost always and so I didn't have many personal expenses. I just used money for travel which is very easy and cheap to do in Morocco.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Everything was really cheap so nothing.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
