I learned that I was capable of taking care of myself in another country. I can read maps and figure out train/bus/flight schedules. I can get through airport security. I can be independent.

The direct enrollment was, I think, a huge factor in my overall experience since it allows you to really immerse yourself in the city life.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Buy at the cheap stores and in bulk when you can. Try to book travel well in advance so you can get cheap flights and really know the currency of the countries.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? How horrible the currency exchange in some countries is. Also I wish I had known not to spend so much money in the first week on unimportant things.
