I would do it again in a heartbeat. The sights I saw and people I met is just priceless.

Personal Information

The term and year this program took place: Spring 2009

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The courses themselves were a bit easier than the courses in my College in the United States. However, being able to experience the places that we learned about definately made up for it and I learned a lot through that.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

We traveled a lot with this program and we had enough free time to do our own exploring. I liked that a lot.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I had the most phenomenal host family. My experience with them was extremely positive.

My housing was not anything super fancy but the family I lived with showed us extreme kindness and hospitality.

* Food:

Mediterranean cuisine is the most delicious food I have ever eaten.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The parade in Nice was phenomenal. Visiting places where famous artists painted was also amazing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about $3000 in 3 and 1/2 months and I was being frugal.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Because the dollar is so weak, everything was a lot more expensive than in the United States.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
Language acquisition improvement?

I learned the language the most effectively when communicating with my host family. I wished that more emphasis on the language would have been placed in school as well.
