Hanyang University: Seoul - International Summer School

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I have learned a lot in many ways. The courses that I followed were really interresting and the different culture that you experience is so good to give you a broader view on the world. Maybe the best thing is the large amount of friends you make in only four weeks, you sare such a unique experience which makes you very close.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I had the best teacher I have ever had and the courses that I chose were very very interesting.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I think I have never experienced such a well organized, fun and friendly team. I arrived a few days late and everything was made in order in couple of minutes.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Good working Wifi in the rooms, your with a lot of internationals in the same building which makes you connect really fast. Don't expect a 5 star hotel room, the rooms are excellent for a 4 week summerschool.

* Food:

It is a whole new kind of cuisine. Try everything and stay with the things you like, that is how I did it. The food vendors on the street are awesome you should defenitely try them.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

In the first week you go on a fieldtrip to see the city of Seoul, which is an awesome city. There are an additional 4 or 5 fieldtrips where you go to the muddfestival, to a Korean movie, to the factory of Hyundai and a traditional village. This part is really well taken care of!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

People who had issues were helped by a doctor that was located on campus.

* Safety:

I have never felt so safe in my entire life. The crime rates in South-Korea are very very low. People will follow you to give you back you cell Phone that you forgot in the subway. The people are very friendly.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It is not very cheap but not really expensive either. It depends on what you would like to do. If you want to go to some clubs which is something that I would recommend thn you need more money but the clubs are legendary!

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 100
