About

This unique two course, six credit hour program features from GSU’s Criminal Justice and Public administration programs condensed into a four week period culminating in a 10 day study abroad hosted by API and the American Graduate School in Paris. Students will be able to intermingle with local Parisian students, engross themselves in the international culture of one of the world’s oldest and historical cities all while learning the most recent and relevant global information from world leaders and distinguished GSU faculty. The two courses being offered are: Examining Transnational Crime: This course is being offered as a Special Topics course. This 3-hour Criminal Justice course will examine the new trends in crime across borders, discuss international agencies authorized to address transnational crime, and explore cutting edge methods for combating the new wave of crime effecting nations across the globe Sustainable Planning Initiatives: This course is being offered as an elective course, which discusses global models for cities and nation states to maintain sustainable models for growth that is inclusive, incorporates diversity, and addresses the many challenges facing cities across the globe. Both course are being offered in a unique format that provides in-class standard instruction as well as out-of-class experiential learning opportunities on an international scale. These innovative courses focus on some of the most compelling social and legal problems facing American society and the world today: inequities and failures in criminal justice, law, education, politics, and administration of policies that have led to the current state of social unrest, racial discord, disenfranchisement of certain communities, and the apparent lack of equal protection and equal opportunity. In doing so, both courses not only take a critical view of the problems facing America, and the world, but also seek to map out positive solutions and direction.
