Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Be sure you plan out money for food and money to spend. You're actually living in that country, so you have normal day to day expenses just like you do at home. Have money for food, everyday spending and then luxuries/extra items to bring home. If you set out how much you're willing to spend a day, only carry that amount with you, with a little bit of emergency money in a different pocket of your wallet. Also, keep in mind the exchange rates when you start saving up.

The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
