Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Courses had little to do with European Studies. The classes themselves where easy but then there where giant papers for each. For one class all we did was read two books out loud that we were supposed to have already read before class started

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The study abroad coordinators were very friendly and provided us with everything we needed and were always available for help/questions.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived across town from the other UT students and did not feel safe walking back to my flat alone at night. Also i was in a bad part of town, whenever people asked where i was living they felt bad for me after hearing my answer

* Food:

The food was excellent. I loved the German, Turkish and Polish foods.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I learned a lot about European culture while in Germany and the German and other foreign students where very nice and including. It was impossible to integrate with the older locals because NO ONE spoke english. We were told everyone would speak english but ONLY the students did

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

We did not have any health issues

* Safety:

The city seemed safe for the most part, but i did not feel safe near my flat. There were many homeless alcoholics nearby that would try to talk to me but we did not speak the same language

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About 100 Euros
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Bring Snacks, bring a water bottle from your apartment each day because water is expensive. Whenever there is a free restroom, take advantage

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
