I think I gained a greater sense of independence. I learned who my real friends are. Being around different cultures and people from around the world broadened my understanding of humanity and politics, not to mention made me more self-critical, and more self-aware of my actions. It will also be hard for me to stay in one area t... KateNoe - Emerson College View Entire Review

One of the most important decisions of my life. I have a real perspective on the world that i didn't have before, and I am more independent after traveling through foreign countries on my own. The Castle is like a home base, so you get a comfortable home feeling as well as the ability to see the hotspots of Europe-- the best of ... Zachary F - Emerson College View Entire Review

Going to the Kasteel was the best experience of my entire life. When I think back on it, I feel almost heartbroken because I miss it so much. If you're going to go, the only thing you need to be concerned about, is how badly you will miss it. It was absolutely perfect. Chloe J - Emerson College View Entire Review

I think I've said enough times how amazing it was and how much I gained from this experience, so I'll just say YES, it was worthwhile and beyond anything I could've expected, imagined or hoped for. Jackie - Emerson College View Entire Review

Very worthwhile. I grew so much when coming out of my comfort zone. The friendships I made with travel buddies are so deep and special. My mind was opened. Caitlin G - Emerson College View Entire Review
It was an experience that pretty much any kind of person would absolutely love and find to be so much more than worthwhile. I gained a lot of cultural knowledge and learned a lot about myself, made a lot of friends and had a ton of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Danson - Emerson College View Entire Review

About
A restored 14th-century medieval castle is home to Emerson's Semester Abroad Program in Well, the Netherlands. Moats and lush gardens contribute to the magic of this setting, while courses with a European focus provide the substance of serious academic pursuit. The program's special curriculum draws on the rich resources of its location to promote cross-cultural awareness and an understanding of worldwide communication. Kasteel Well participants enroll in courses that take advantage of the European experience. Many of the courses offered are included in the General Education Curriculum. Kasteel (castle) Well is a national historical monument dating from the 14th century. It provides living and dining accommodations, classrooms, a student center and pub, offices and a performance area for students, faculty and staff. The surrounding grounds offer opportunities for various outdoor sports. Well, located in eastern Holland near the German border, is approximately two hours from Dusseldorf, Amsterdam and Brussels, and five hours from Paris by easily accessible mass transit.
