I learned about myself, religion, art, photography. Yes. A student - Emerson College View Entire Review
A newfound interest in exploration and travel in general. I have the bug and hate being in one place! It was 200% worth while. I loved every minute Ali_8729 - Emerson College View Entire Review
I matured so much and discovered so much about myself that I don't think I would learned or realized without doing thing program. It was so worthwhile. I wish I was still there! Megan F - Emerson College View Entire Review
Yes - it was an invaluable opportunity. Natalie M - Emerson College View Entire Review
It was not only worthwhile but I don't regret one thing I did while I was there. Would do something similar if I could in a heartbeat. Kyle B - Emerson College View Entire Review
The experience was absolutely worth it! I learned how to travel alone; how to negotiate a foreign city where no one spoke my language; and how European cultures have tangled themselves into a many-stranded net of treaties and wars and religions and beautiful cultures. I definitely plan to travel much more in the future. After... Rebecca V - Emerson College View Entire Review
As far as academics, it wasn't worth it just coming for the classes. But on emphasis with travelling, I saw so many things and met so many different people (outside of Emerson, of course). Europe is an experience so worthwhile on every scale and time period. It's a beautiful place, all of it's contents. This study abroad taught ... Elsa H - Emerson College View Entire Review
I grew up a lot this semester, gained a deeper appreciation of cultures other than my own. I liked going to museums here in the states, but now I love it! Seeing the Mona Lisa and the David in person literally take one's breath away. I'll want to go back as soon as possible. Margaret C - Emerson College View Entire Review
Definitely! Lauren C - Emerson College View Entire Review
I had a difficult time living at the castle, but prior to the Kasteel Well program I had never been to Europe and now I've visited 12 major European cities. I didn't get much time in each and I hope to return, but having someplace to live on the continent allowed me to be able to travel so many different places without having to... I love learning about other cultures. The Dutch culture is incredibly fascinating. I enjoyed absorbing the rich traditions of The Netherlands. kelly g - Emerson College View Entire Review
Yes it was definitely worthwhile, I gained a lot of knowledge I hadn't previously known about the Netherlands and the Dutch culture. The country is small which makes for great exploration. I feel like it has changed me for the better, I'm a more independent person and has sparked some creativity for me. Erica K - Emerson College View Entire Review
You are so much more independent/self sufficient than you think you are! Traveling really tests your skills, but you'd be surprised at how much you can accomplish. Devon M - Emerson College View Entire Review
Yes! So worthwhile. I learned a lot about myself, in addition to travelling and Europe. Seeing a different country every weekend opened me up to the world, different cultures, languages, food, ways of living. Truly incredible. A student - Emerson College View Entire Review

It changed my perspective on everything. At best, I am a cultured, refined student with broadened horizons and a deeper understanding of the world. At the very least, I have some really cool stories to bust out at parties. This time abroad has instilled within me a passion for traveling that I know I will take with me for life. I think it helped my worldview to see so many different places in person. Everyone knows about other countires but in a way they only become real to you when you visit. Now when i hear a news story about Belgium, I'll connect that to the experiences I had there, I won't just think, "oh yeah, that's a place somewhere, I think the... For me, it was definitely worthwhile because everything about it was ideal: elective class credit for Emerson, matched my academic interests exactly, and short enough but long enough to meet new people, travel and learn. I am so glad that I applied because I can use a lot of what I saw, learned and produced in the photography st... Meredith C - Emerson College View Entire Review

About
A restored 14th-century medieval castle is home to Emerson's Semester Abroad Program in Well, the Netherlands. Moats and lush gardens contribute to the magic of this setting, while courses with a European focus provide the substance of serious academic pursuit. The program's special curriculum draws on the rich resources of its location to promote cross-cultural awareness and an understanding of worldwide communication. Kasteel Well participants enroll in courses that take advantage of the European experience. Many of the courses offered are included in the General Education Curriculum. Study is combined with extensive travel, exploring the cultural and historical offerings in several major cities of Europe. Kasteel (castle) Well is a national historical monument dating from the 14th century. It provides living and dining accommodations, classrooms, a student center and pub, offices and a performance area for students, faculty and staff. The surrounding grounds offer opportunities for various outdoor sports. Well, located in eastern Holland near the German border, is approximately two hours from Dusseldorf, Amsterdam and Brussels, and five hours from Paris by easily accessible mass transit. Applications are due approximately one year in advance of attendance.
