Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was a great learning experience because we had the opportunity to learn, surrounded by the culture, and in a classroom with Japanese students.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The advisors who went with us were not particularly the most qualified in terms of taking care of their responsibilities.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

There were about 8 girls to a room, and 4-5 guys to a room. Although it seemed chaotic, the experience was very nice.

* Food:

We had to buy all the food, but it was great to try new things!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I really loved going on field trips, and even just looking at the Japanese people walking on the streets.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

A lot of the people in Japan knew the very basics of English. The Japanese students were pretty impressive. We tried to practice improving our Japanese by speaking with the Japanese students. We also learned basic Japanese phrases for a week before we dove into the business class.
