What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely. I loved going abroad. I had so many amazing experiences and learned so much about the world. I saw so many things. I would not give up my time in Spain for the world. I fell in love with Seville and the people of Andalusia.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The professors at the university classes for American students taught only in the lecture format with no engagement with the students. Especially in classes taught entirely in spanish, this was very challenging

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were impersonal and extremely strict about using language even in extreme situations.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in the "residencia santa anna" in "el centro" (center neighborhood).

the food was very bad, almost inedible. the rooms were tiny and uncomfortable to live in. there were no windows to the outside, only one very small one to the hall. the staff were unfirendly.

* Food:

the food was very bad so i ate out which caused me to eat out alot

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I went out for food more than i thought. Traveling was more expensive than I thought.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

due to my limited language skills prior to the program it was much more difficult to get as much from the experience.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
