I could not have asked for a better location to study abroad Past Review

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This program was above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Though I learned a lot in the classrooms, I feel like the real lessons came from living in a different country, meeting people of all different ethnicities, and learning about Australian culture by experiencing it first hand. The landscape is beautiful, the people are all so friendly, and I could not have asked for a better location!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Very hands on! The grading system works differently than in the United States, but it is easy to adjust. There was less time spent in the classroom, and more time spent on individual work outside of the classroom.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Our CIEE leader was very accomodating to all of our needs. He knew us all on a personal level and was willing to go above and beyond for us.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We lived in on campus "flats" in a student village.

* Food:

There was no meal plan on campus, so we were forced to go grocery shopping. It was hard not having a car, and sometimes annoying to carry all of your groceries home a half mile, and/or pay to squish them all on the bus. But the food was DELICIOUS. (Expensive, but delicious!)

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There was always so much to do! I met friends very easily, you tend to make friends with the other kids in the CIEE program and other exchange students. Night life is very fun, and the beaches were a hit spot as well.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Like any city, you have to be smart about where you are going and who you are with.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
