Studying Abroad in Dublin, The Best Experience of My Life Past Review

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was about the same as I was used to back at the main Champlain College campus. Because this program is run by the College there also wasn't a difference between the educational systems in Ireland or the US.

On-site administration of your program

The faculty at the Dublin campus are all fantastic people and I have to thank each of them for providing me with the greatest experience of my life. Stephen runs an excellent program, his door is, literally, always open and he is more than willing to drop whatever hes doing to talk to you and answer any questions you may have. At one point when I was having trouble registering for classes back at the main campus for the following semester, Stephen spent an hour calling and talking to someone back in Vermont on my behalf. Claire was also great at helping us get acclimated to Dublin and was always willing to answer any questions we had. Annie was a fantastic head resident, I simply can't say enough about how well she helped us learn about and become familiar with Dublin and she was an integral part in my fantastic experience.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing we lived at was good. I did have some cleaning issues with my room as it hadn't been cleaned properly before we moved in but other than that the staff were friendly and helpful in addressing our concerns.

The school doesn't provide any dining services so you are on your own to cook and feed yourself. Dublin is a great place for food though and there are plenty of great places to eat and drink.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The trips to Western and Northern Ireland were both really, really enjoyable. The other local Dublin events organized by the school were also really fun too. Dublin is a fantastic city with plenty of things to do.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I had one brief visit to the doctor during my time abroad and the school was quick at setting up the appointment for me and I was very satisfied with the care provided. Dublin is a pretty safe city, but like any large city it has places you need to avoid. The staff are certain to tell you which places to avoid but even so, sometimes things do happen.
