I learned a lot about Brazilian culture and the similarities and differences between social justice issues in the United States and in Brazil. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Language acquisition and Brazilian historical knowledge. This program was not worthwhile and if I could do it over again, I would stay on campus. Please note that I have studied abroad internationally before as well as lived abroad in southern Africa for 2 years; my negative experience with this program was not due to difficulty... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
The experience was absolutely worthwhile and learning from a different culture absolutely has transformed my opinions on certain perspectives. - Brandeis University View Entire Review

Many great relationships! - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I definitely had to learn how to cook for myself and take care of myself in a big city! I also gained a lot of confidence in my foreign language skills. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Yes it was worthwhile and I gained probably more than I know from this experience. I gained language proficiency, great friends, exploring a new culture, gained the confidence to get around in a foreign country with few language skills, traveling, and more than I can recall right now. I would go back to Brazil in a hearbeat. - Brandeis University View Entire Review

About

This program is for students who want to step out of their comfort zone and understand Brazil from a local perspective. The curriculum is a combination of Portuguese language courses and electives taught in English, but intermediate and advanced students may opt for full immersion by taking direct enroll courses in Portuguese alongside Brazilian peers. CET students have two options for their study abroad experience in São Paulo: a program studying Social Justice and Inequality with direct-enroll options at Pontificia Universidade Catolica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), or studying Socially Sustainable Business with direct-enroll options at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). Excursions, including a week-long Traveling Seminar to Salvador da Bahia, allow you to engage with Brazilian society and not just spectate. Students of all Portuguese language levels and majors are welcome.
