Central College Abroad: Study Abroad in Paris

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
SO worthwhile. It gave me a definite edge when job hunting right out of college. It also sparked my interest in continuing to travel the world- and to always keep learning and exploring.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in the center of Paris, in a Parisian dorm. It was amazing!

* Food:

Loved the food!!! Both at the dorm, and throughout the city!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Taking initiatives- and traveling on the weekends was amazing. I was able to travel the world with friends, for cheap because travel is less expensive within Europe. The trips organized by Central Abroad were okay- but not trips I would have planned for myself and my friends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe in my part of the city in Paris.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

Overall, interacting in the native language and country- both in school and daily life was a great experience and very helpful in advancing my language fluency!

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Research both the program and country of interest. Ask lots of questions. And take chances- studying abroad is all about exploring and learning, not about focusing on what is back home. You will go back eventually so less facebook and more real life!!
