Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The educational experience was beyond what I could ever expect. We were immersed into everything we were learning about and seeing most of the organisms first hand.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We never had a permanent place to stay as we were always traveling. Camping was a new experience for me and not having a bathroom at some points was different but was a great experience. Staying at the research center was the best living arrangement there was for it allowed us to have an actual bed and the comforts of home while enjoying the different cultures and the way they did things.

* Food:

There were many opportunities to try new foods and some of the choices that were available I personally did not have a taste for but trying new things is what this trip was about and having new learning experiences.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt quite integrated with local culture really getting a feel for the camping and living in the wild and how people interact and try to protect the pacific ocean and the animals that in their waters.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

MY instructors helped in anyway they could when someone wasn't feeling well but no major health issues occurred.

* Safety:

Always have buddy. Our group was small and always stayed close together. There was barley a time to get separated when were camping we stayed in the vicinity for the activities that were planed.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

The program set everyone up and provided the food. The only money really needed was for souvenirs and on the day we had a day off for ourselves to go around the town.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? very little to non except to do laundry and on the day off and for souviners so maybe 150 total for the whole trip.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
